The To Do List (2013): Summer

This movie follows Brandy during the summer before college. While she has always excelled at school, she hasn’t had much luck romantically. She decides that she needs to become sexually experienced before she leaves for school, so she makes a to-do list of different sex acts. The movie is raunchy and not really anything special (there are scores of movies following kids “doing ___ before graduation/college/high school etc”). However, as far as a summer theme goes, this movie is wonderful. It’s set in 1993 which has a major nostalgia factor for me. While the comedy isn’t anything super special, the theme and setting of a public pool with a bunch of hometown losers evokes a feeling of childhood/teenage summers. This is a great laidback film to watch on a hot summer day while sitting in front of a fan and hiding from the sun.
