Adventure Time: Halloween

“Ghost Fly” Season 6, Episode 17

AT Ghost Fly

In the third spooky scary episode of Adventure Time we have Ghost Fly. This episode is honestly not all that scary and it’s very simple, but for some reason it is my favorite episode to watch around Halloween. When Jake kills a fly that is trying to eat his soup, he begins to be haunted by the little creatures ghost. He must enter the spirit world in order to figure out its unfinished business and stop the haunting. This episode is about as silly as it sounds but it’s the right amount of creepy and funny. It’s very entertaining and doesn’t take a lot of brain power to enjoy. It isn’t actually set during Halloween or have any references to the holiday, but its creepy nature is enough to qualify it and provide some nice silly scares. This is definitely a great, laid-back spook-fest that will get you in the Halloween spirit.

“From Bad to Worse” Season 3, Episode 13

AT From Bad to Worse.jpg

While working on a science experiment, Princess Bubblegum accidentally causes a candy zombie outbreak. While working on a cure, the zombies infiltrate the lab and infect her as well. This leaves the mission for a cure up to Jake and Finn. They struggle to understand Princess Bubblegum’s scientific notes and one by one their friends become infected. A surprise helper must come to their rescue. This episode is a fun play on the zombie craze that was happening a few years ago. As I said about other Adventure Time halloween specials, this one is fun because it reminds me of late 90’s/early 00’s Halloween episodes because it isn’t afraid to be creepy, while still being suitable for kids. I definitely recommend checking this episode out to get yourself ready for a night of frights.

“The Creeps” Season 3, Episode 12

AT The Creeps.jpg

When Jake and Finn receive a mysterious invitation to a fancy masquerade party, they quickly realize that their evening is about to turn deadly. The host is revealed to be a ghost who plans to kill them all one by one. They begin to race against time to solve the mystery. This episode is the right amount of creepy and fun. It reminds me of watching creepy Halloween episodes from shows of my childhood… not scary enough to be traumatizing, but still scary enough to make you hide under your covers when you went to bed that night. It’s an obvious play off And Then There Were None… but it still manages to be entertaining and spooky. It isn’t directly set on Halloween so there isn’t much Halloween imagery, but it’s scary enough to do the trick. I think this is a great episode to get people of all ages in the Halloween spirit.
