The Goldbergs: Halloween

“Who Are You Going to Telephone?” Season 1, Episode 6

This is one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s so underrated, and is amazingly funny. As the child of two Philly natives, and a frequenter of the city, the show really hits close to home for me. In the show’s first halloween episode, Adam breaks his tradition of going trick or treating with Pop’s in order to go out with a cool friend. Pop’s is hurt by this as they have matching costumes. Meanwhile, Erica and Barry go to a Halloween Party, where Barry hopes to impress a cool girl in school. When Beverly hears that the girl doesn’t like him and he’s going to embarrass himself, she tries to disguise herself and attend the party to prevent him from being humiliated. This episode is really funny, as most episodes are, but it is really great for the season. It has awesome Halloween costumes, decorations, parties and trick or treating. I think this show is a must-see when it comes to getting into the spirit for spooky time.

The Goldbergs: Thanksgiving

“A Goldberg Thanksgiving” Season 2, Episode 7

As with most Goldberg events, Thanksgiving is turning into a nightmare. Erica hates having to help her mother with thanksgiving every year, so they make a bet that if Erica can make it through Jazzercise she doesn’t have to help. However, when she wins Bev, begins to try to guilt her into staying. Meanwhile, Murray is also feeling disconnected from his children when Adam bonds with Uncle Marvin over video games and seems to have more in common with him. This episode is hilarious and captures the family hostility and insanity that comes along with thanksgiving. I think this is a great episode to watch to get ready to spend some time with your extended family and gorge yourself on thanksgiving food.

The Goldbergs: Thanksgiving

“Stop Arguing and Start Thanking” Season 1, Episode 9

The first Thanksgiving episode of the Goldbergs, and it’s a great start. Murray is dreading his brother Marvin attending the family holiday, as they always fight. However, Marvin shows up and claims to be cleaning up his act and abandoning his life as a scam artist. This doesn’t last for long. Speaking of brothers fighting, Barry and Adam begin to get competitive over their annual game of “ball ball”, as sport they made up. Meanwhile, Bev is desperately trying to keep everyone on good terms so her thanksgiving isn’t ruined. This is a great family centered episode, with some great comedy, and beautiful thanksgiving day imagery and decor. I definitely recommend checking this episode out to get in the holiday spirit.
